1. General Information

Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) with its capital of Yogyakarta, a province in Indonesia which is located in the southern part of Java island. In regional, DIY, home of about 4,364,000 is comprised of four districts, 78 subdistricts, and 440 village / village.

Yogyakarta History

Then, on March 4, 1950, defined as the province of Yogyakarta through U No. 3 Year 1950 about Formation of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Yogyakarta Culture

Yogyakarta is a city filled with history and cultural heritage of the past intact. Yogyakarta is also a separate provincial status as a special area or DIY.

In contrast to other regions, the Sultan still feels his influence in the city this gudeg. Until now, the palace under the leadership of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X is still standing proudly. The influence of the palace is evident by the presence of the Sultan as the Governor of Yogyakarta.

Jogjakarta is rich in cultural reserve. One of these dances developed areas in Yogyakarta is Angguk dance, which is an expression of gratitude to God after the rice harvest. Musical instruments accompanying this dance is the drums, drum, drum, kencreng, tambourines, and a firearm. Another distinctive artistry is kethoprak, Jathilan, and wayang kulit.

Yogyakarta is one of the provinces inhabited by tribes of the multiethnic, ranging from Javanese people, the majority Malays, Sundanese, Batak, Balinese, Minang, Madura, Tionghoa, and about 90 percent of the people embraced Islam.

Language of everyday use are Java language.

6. Culinary

Some of the food of Yogyakarta is Gudeg and Rice Cat. Gudeg is a delicious dish made from young jackfruit cooked in coconut milk and seasoned with kluwek.

Meanwhile Sego Cats are Nasi Rames with dry tempeh dishes, chili fries, tripe, fried anchovy, fish, intestines, heads or paws satay chicken and quail eggs. This cat food is served in miniature portions. Both types of traditional foods easily found in all corners of Yogyakarta.
