Sijagur Cannon
One of the highlights of Jakarta History Museum is the presence of guns, the guns Si Jagur. Large cannon made of bronze was placed in the museum yard. The cannon is derived from the Portuguese, who then brought to Batavia as a trophy of war after the fall of Malacca to the Portuguese in 1641.
The uniqueness of this gun is in shape. The back of this gun-shaped hand clenched with the thumb was pinned by the index finger and middle finger. Then, on the back of the cannon is any lettering ‘Ex Me Ipsa Renata Sum’ which means ‘outside of me I was born’.
