Karimun Jawa Islands
Karimun Jawa is the Marine National Park, There comprises an area of 110,000 ha and lies 90 km north east of Jepara in Central Java. You can reach Jepara by bus from Semarang. The ferry from Jepara harbor takes about 6 hours (ferry depart twice a week).
The park consists of group of 27 small coral island covered by mangrove and beach forest. Only seven of the island are inhabit. The park is named after the largest island Karimun Jawa. A number of endemic animals live on the island while on the beaches sea turtles lay their eggs.
The attraction is really not in this main island but in other island such as snorkeling, enjoying the white beach and coral reefs but you can do these activities only by chartered small boat. Karimun Jawa can best be visited during the dry season: May – September.

Gereja Blenduk Semarang or Blenduk church
was built in 1750 and renovated in 1894. This church is a left over from the Dutch during its annexation here.
Its called Blenduk because the shape of its dome looks like a ball thats being sliced in half, that why a local people call it “mblenduk”. with 400 acres wide, this building is a hexagonal with quadrangular rooms and there is a Greece crucifix hang on the side of the room.

Gedung Lawang Sewu
in the beginning this building was the central office of Nederlandsch Indishe Spoorweg Naatschappij or used to be called NIS. its Dutch train company. The magnificent building is styled in art deco and obtains an exclusive feature. Art Deco style was developed from 1850 to 1940 in Europe.
The local people call this building Gedung Lawang Sewu because this building has a specific characteristic which possesses many doors, “lawang” in Javanese means a door, while “sewu” means a thousand. So lawang sewu analogically describes the numerous doors this building have; despite the fact that they re not exactly a thousand. Its not difficult to reach this location, because its close to Tugu Muda Monument at the corner of the Semarang city.
Gedung Lawang Sewu is a monumental as well as gorgeous building and the design concept follows the principle of curve architecture that apply Gothics twin tower on the left and right side of the main gate.

Tugu Muda Semarang is a historical monument that is located right in the hearth of Semarang. This monument was built as reminiscence to all the heroes that died in five days battle against Japanese soldiers on 14ht to 19th October 1945 in Semarang when a lot of Semarang’s youngsters died in this battle.

Starting from the plan to build a monument that commemorates the Battle of Five-day events in Semarang. On October 28, 1945, Governor Java Tengah, Mr. Wongsonegoro put the first stone at the originally planned location is near the town square. However, due in November 1945 the war broke out against the Allies and Japan, this project became dormant. Then in 1949, the Youth Coordinating Board of Indonesia (BKPI), initiated the idea of re-construction of the monument, but due to funding difficulties, the idea was unfulfilled. In 1951, Mayor of Semarang, Hadi Soebeno Sosro Wedoyo, formed the Committee Tugu Muda, with the development plan is no longer on the location of the square, but at this present location. Monument design was done by Salim, while the reliefs on the monument is done by the artist Hendro. Stone is used, among others brought in from kaliuang and Paker. November 10, 1951, the first stone laid by Governor Boediono and Central Java on May 20, 1953, to coincide with National Awakening Day, Tugu Muda officially opened by Sukarno, President of the Republic of Indonesia. Until now, quite a lot of changes have been made to the memorial statues around the young, other relief making gardens and ponds.
The Tugu Muda Semarang monument shape like candle and has a relief that describes the people’s suffering at that time. This monument was officially announced on 20th May 1953 by the previous president of Indonesia, Soekarno.

this museum is located on Jalan Abdul Rahman Saleh, Semarang. It is the most complete museum in Semarang that collects historical articles, environment, archeology, culture and record on the archipelago.
